James Barry Cook, 82, of Citrus Hills, FL, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born February 2, 1940, in Ontario, Canada, son of Robert Cook and Hazel Ellen Cook.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents and son, Kelly Cook. Survivors include Kathy Cook, his wife of 22 years; his son, Daniel Barry Cook and his wife Ellen Cook, his brothers, Robert Harry Cook and his wife Laura-Mae Cook, and James Franklin Alcock and his wife Donna Alcock; and eight grandchildren.
Barry's first love was hockey, where he played as a defenseman for the Marquette, Michigan Iron Rangers team. He later became the coach of that team. Afterwards, he became a Real Estate Broker and after many sales positions, he settled in Citrus Hills, FL. He was an avid runner and ran his first marathon at age 64. He also ran in 24 5K Gasparilla races. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends every Wednesday for many years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the Garden Room at Citrus Hills Country Club, 505 E. Hartford Street, Citrus Hills, FL 34442.
