With Sweets´ beautiflul intarsia work welcoming people to our home he remains a presence in our lives. I treasure our experiences together (and there were some doozies!)

I had so many goofy but terrific and unforgettable experiences with Sweets. Like the time we took my 8 foot rubber raft down to King Harbor and Sweets anchored us right in the middle of the main channel that boats use getting in or out. We were having a grand time catching bonito and exchanging "pleasantries" with the boaters who often saluted of with less than 5 fingers as they passed by. The harbor master was nearly beside himself when came to run us off but we caught a boatload of fish.

Hard to believe Sweets is gone a year now. Of course, he´s really not completely gone. Mementos fill our home and photo albums and I can still feel his presence in my life.

The overused expression “one-of-a-kind” certainly applied to Sweets. With aoversized zest for life he worked hard, bringing a remarkable gift for problem-solving to everything he did, and played just as hard. He could turn even seemingly routine activities into unforgettable adventures. People were so often drawn to him because he was just fun to be with and to see what would happen next. Whatever it was it was certain to be memorable. I’ll really miss him.

Jim, was like a father to me, when I most needed it. Early adulthood. Fond, fond memories of times past. Joan let me know if there is anything Tom and I can do. Patrick Raymond
