Jan McClelland Obituary

Jan McClelland of Beverly Hills, Florida and formerly of Arlington, Ohio passed away from Covid. Jan transcended to his heavenly home on Friday, September 3, 2021.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dana Fenimore McClelland; sons Robert McClelland, New York City; Duncan McClelland, Citrus Springs, Florida; stepson, Dustin Babcock, Reno Nevada, and sister Judy McClelland Rower, Kirkwood, Missouri. Also, surviving are his beloved extended family, Tyrone and Samantha Roebuck, and children, Eric Black, Kendon Black, and Wriley Roebuck.
Jan also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ian McClelland, Mersadees Rathburn, Braith Rathburn, Maddyson Rathburn, and Brendan Rathburn. Jan was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol McCune McClelland; his daughters Bridgette McClelland and Laura McClelland Rathburn. His mother and father, Robert and Helen McClelland and his brother, James McClelland also preceded him in death.
Jan graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington, Ohio, and then attended Northwestern Business College where he received his degree in auto mechanics. He worked for several auto dealerships and trucking companies. Jan then taught auto mechanics at the Millstream Career Cooperative. He was honored as an Ohio cooperative teacher of the year.
Jan was a longtime member of Club Recovery where he served as a trustee and secretary for many years. He was especially good at baking special treats for the members.
Jan also served as a Boy Scout leader in Florida for many years where he helped to groom many boys to become Eagle Scouts and encouraged all the Boy Scouts to reach their highest goals.
Jan was loved by everyone who crossed his path and was never heard to say a bad word against anyone. He had a huge, gentle soul. Jan loved to work on any kind of engine and was known for helping anyone who needed help with their cars, mowers, etc.
Jan loved to cook and bake. So many people enjoyed the fruits of his culinary labors. Jan leaves behind his beloved dog, Tankie, and two prize rabbits. Jan was a lover of all creatures great and small and enjoyed his time on Eagle Creek in Arlington, Ohio fishing and camping.
Contributions may be made to The Community Foundation for the Robert and Helen McClelland Farm Child Scholarship, 101 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio or to Club Recovery.
