John Grannan Obituary

John Aubrey Grannan, 70, passed away at Hospice in Lecanto, FL from complications of the flu, Wednesday, January 31st 2018.
John was born on February 16th 1947 to parents Paul Vincent and Dorothy King Grannan in Orlando Florida. He was raised in Citrus County where he loved learning the history of the land and its families. He also served in the United States Navy at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and then attended the University of South Florida in Tampa,Florida. He worked in Tampa for the State of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for 27 years before retiring and returning to Citrus County. Always active in community service, John served as president of the Citrus County Historical Society, member of the Crystal River Anthology Guild, committee for the Crystal River High School class reunion and served on the board of the Magnolia Cemetery in Lecanto.
John was preceded in death by his younger brother Jefferson Wray Grannan.
John is survived and greatly missed by his brother Paul (Vicki) Grannan, sisters Meggie (Joe) Fagan and Shelley Harris, nephews Sonti Burnett, Murray Fagan, Zachary (Tiffany) Grannan and nieces Katie (Scott) Holbrook, and Haley (Mike) Berthrong and many great nieces and nephews.
A reception hosted by the Historical Society will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Citrus County Historical Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River.
