Juanita Jean Abbey, aged 88, of Homosassa, FL (Sugarmill Woods) passed peacefully on April 28, 2022.
Juanita and her late husband David (2017) lived the American dream; retired in 1997 in DeWitt, MI, moved to Florida and built their house that would provide over 23 years of memories with friends and family. While Juanita relied on her husband to get them involved with social groups, once they were involved, she loved hosting gatherings at the house.
Prior to retiring, Juanita and David raised three children in their Dewitt, Michigan home: Jennifer, Jason, and Edwin (Winn). In Michigan, Juanita was known for her green thumb and endless hours spent outside planting and tending to her flowers. (She quickly turned that to a passion for indoor plants after moving to Florida and left the outdoor plants – and the snakes – for David to take care of.)
Juanita's children always knew her as the loving housewife that would be there when they returned home from school. But prior to having a family, and after graduating high school from Greenville Michigan, Juanita worked for Lansing Lithographic and Michigan Bell (as a switchboard operator). Always proud of her polished fingernails, her hand was once even used in an advertisement for Michigan bell.
Juanita was proceeded in death by her husband, David (2017), whom she married in 1961. She is survived by her three children and their families: Jennifer Agler and her husband Brian, their children – Aubree and Andrew Steele and their daughter Isabelle, Alicia Agler and her fiance David Willeford; Jason Abbey; Edwin Abbey and his children – Briana Decambra and her husband Jacob and their son Killian, Carrie Abbey, Nathan Abbey, and Grason Abbey. Arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home and Crematory, Crystal River, Florida.
