Judith Koprowski Obituary

Judith Ann (Overmeyer) Koprowski, a beacon of love and warmth, was born on October 2, 1946, in the Bronx, New York.

Her parents were George and Ethel Overmeyer. With a strong Irish Catholic upbringing, she was rooted in values of kindness and generosity. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Ken, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey that led them from the Bronx to Long Island, where they began their family. In 1991, they made their home in Citrus County, Florida, where their blended family flourished and created countless cherished memories.

Judith was not just a mother and grandmother; she was a nurturing soul, known for her genuine spirit and selfless love. She had an infectious joy for life that shone brightly during the holiday season, especially while watching Hallmark Christmas movies and hosting vibrant celebrations for every occasion, no matter how big or small. Her pride in her Irish heritage and Bronx upbringing was evident, but it was her family that she cherished most deeply.

A true connoisseur of life's pleasures, Judith adored her wine, cold beer and was a passionate fan of Notre Dame football. She found joy in simple pleasures, from spending Friday and Saturday nights by the river to enjoying weekends at Perry's in Daytona with so many friends and family, starting the Grandparents weekend tradition over 20 years ago. Judith had an innate ability to make everyone feel special, earning her the affectionate title of "Grandma K" to so many.

She had a remarkable knack for creating lasting memories and instilling family traditions, ensuring that love and laughter were always at the heart of every gathering. Fashion was another passion of hers; she had a flair for style, often seen sporting a perfectly matched purse and watch, with a popped collar on her striped shirts and her favorite white pants. Her vibrant personality and genuine nature drew people in, making her a friend to all.

After a courageous eight-year battle with several cancers, including breast and ovarian cancer, Judith passed peacefully at home on May 9, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She faced her illness with incredible strength and resilience, ringing the bell three times as a testament to her fighting spirit.

Judith is preceded in death by her brother, George Overmeyer, sister Susan Taylor, and parents George and Ethel Overmeyer. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, Ken Koprowski; her daughters, Jennifer Woods and Jackie Hendrickson; her cherished goddaughter Debbie (Mike) Shudy; and her two sons-in-law, Matt Woods and Ed Hendrickson Jr., who were her sons she never had. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Eddie and Tonya Hendrickson, Brad and Hannah Hendrickson, Mackenzie Woods, Ciara Hendrickson (Seth Miller), and Tristan Woods (Hannah Shortt), as well as her great-grandchildren Kaylee, Ataleigh, Brantley, Westlyn, Chet, Stevie, and soon-to-be Nova. Judith is also survived by her brothers Al (Cris) Ross, John (Grace) Connelly, Mike (Brenda) Connelly, and Bobby (Joyce) Connelly, along with countless other loved ones and her extended family, whom she held dear.

Judith's legacy of love, kindness, and genuine spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Judy will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center, 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, Florida with Fr. So so very sorry for your loss. She was a very dear friend and work partner.
I know she will be missed beyond belief. I now live back in Kentucky or I would have been there. Becky

Oh I remember her from growing up as a kid. Her daughter and My mom were great coworkers and friends. Judith was always so sweet. Glad to have known her in my years of being little.
