Kent "Gordo/Gordy" Gordon, age 62, was born March 25, 1963 and passed in his sleep peacefully at home with loving family around him on August 21, 2025. Born in Gainesville, Florida to Clarence Earl and Joylean Horne Gordon, Gordy began his forty-year career in the United States Air Force before transitioning into civil defense.
Gordy was a brilliant man in his career field. During his time, he traveled to at least six states for a plethora of projects and missions. Gordo was patient and would teach anyone anything as long as they were willing to pay attention and be present to learn from him. He was described by those who worked with him as the man with all the answers and the one everyone wanted on their team.
Gordy is survived by his partner, Constance Marie Gordon; daughter, Elizebeth Anne and her husband, Wesley James Paternoster; as well as brothers, Barney Gordon and his wife, Katie Winding, and Chris and his wife, Cheryl Gordon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joylean Horne Gordon and father, Clarence Earl Gordon.
A celebration of life will be held on September 5, 2025 at Davis Watkins Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs, Florida at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter in Gordo's honor. However, if you are attending the celebration of life, please be willing to write down and share a memory of him with his family. There will be cards to write these memories on as a guest book for the family to treasure.
