Lee English, 82, of Lecanto, FL passed away December 27, 2024 at her residence in Lecanto. She was born in Miami, FL on December 25, 1942 to the late Thomas and Ann (Strictland) Mobley.
Lee arrived in this area in the '60s coming from Williston, FL; Lee and David owned Happy Tree Training Farm where she trained horses and held multiple judging cards within the horseshow industry. She was a world renown artist commissioning custom pieces for her clients. Lee founded the Lecanto Levi's 4-H Club and continued leading the club for many years.
After retiring from the horse industry, she quickly became known as the "Corgi Lady," being an avid dog breeder for over 60 years. She loved competing in dog agility competitions. Callie was her favorite agility partner! Lee was preceded in death by her loving husband, David F. English, and her beloved sister, Oma F. Pantridge. Survivors include her brother Dr. Thomas O. (Cathy) Mobley, her three children Tomi (Gene) Smith, Trina (Tom) Curtin and Todd (Cindy) English; 7 grandchildren – Livia (Dave) Hodge, Laci (Eric) Ryals, Clayton (Nicole) Smith, Tana (Trevor) Lutterman, Heath (Allie) English, Dr. Jeb English, Mary (Michael) Templeton, and 11 great-grandchildren – Michaela (Ricky), Emma, Brianna, Mason, Aubree, Bristol, Maysen, Layton, Daylee, Tillie, Kaylee, and Tyson.
A gathering to share memories of Lee will be held at "The Farm" in Lecanto at a later date. Don't weep for me for I have not gone.

Lee English changed my life for the better. Until I met her, having a Corgi puppy was only a dream. I contacted her when I was unable to find a Corgi rescue on my own. She graciously put me on the list but I bugged her so that she told me she let me adopt one of Bratz´s puppies if there was a Merle Girl. Sure enough, there was just one born and she was mine. Angelica was such a doll that less than a year later, I called wanting another. Veronica joined her half sister and my life has never been the same. Lee was one of those people everyone should have been blessed to know. Her dogs were her life and it showed. When 20 Corgis come running to the gate when a visitor arrived, well, that´s a reflection of Lee´s work. She will be missed but her life lives on in the hundreds of puppies she brought into this world and its a better place for it.

I am so saddened to hear about Lee's passing. She was truly a wonderful person and I feel so grateful to have been given the opportunity to know her. About 2 years ago, my husband and I found The Corgi Lady online and quickly became interested in adopting an Auggie from her. She was very selective on the people who could adopt from her, and it was clear she cared very much about her animals. Banjo is the greatest little guy and he makes every day that much better! I would occasionally email updates about Banjo and pictures of him to Lee, and she always loved it. From the second that Banjo was born and even beforehand, Lee was so amazing in keeping us updated on Sticker's (Banjo's mom) pregnancy and when she was going to be having her puppies. We had never adopted such a baby puppy before, so all of this was such a cool experience. She invited us to come visit Banjo when he was just 4 weeks old, and again at 6 weeks, and we received weekly updates of our little guy. At the 8-week pickup, we could not have been more excited!! Lee was always so patient and kind, and answered any and all questions that we had about raising an Auggie. My husband actually proposed to me right after picking up Banjo on Lee's property, so it's definitely a day I will never forget. Lee will sadly be missed, and I'm sad that I won't get the chance to send her updates of Banjo anymore. Thank you for being such an amazing and kind soul. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Rain, Holden & Banjo

I´m so sorry to hear this news. Bob Cornette and I were just speaking of Lee and I Google searched and see that she passed. We are so sorry to hear this news. We both have fond memories and stories to tell of Lee. I knew Lee from purchasing 2 Corgis from her, showing horses under her and having her do artwork for me. She will be sadly missed.
Sincerely, Belinda Smith

I wanted to reach out and send my condolences to your family on the passing of Lee English. She will have a place in my and my family´s heart forever. I reached out to her in 2010, when I was just 11 years old because my parents finally said that I could get a dog. I did so much research into what dog would be best for our family. And the results kept coming up as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. This was before corgis were trendy or very popular in society. But I googled the best breeders in the state of Florida (we´re in Sarasota county), and Lee English popped up. I called her up, and she told me that we had to wait until one of her female dogs got pregnant. She reached out to me when Lulu was pregnant, Little Man was the father. This was around June 2010. Lulu gave birth on August 8, 2010. When the puppies were a couple days old, Lee English sent us a photo through email of the litter and asked which one we wanted. This was a tough decision because they were all so cute, and they don´t have personalities yet, so how can you really decide on which dog you want? Well I knew I wanted a girl, and I remember my dad saying something about how dogs with more white in their coats are more valuable, so that´s how we chose. We just looked at the picture and picked one of the girls that had the most white. When they were three weeks old, Lee English said that we could come up to her farm in Lecanto and see our puppy. Of the 11 years that I had lived, this was the best day of my life. I could not have dreamt of this in my wildest dreams. A corgi entourage greeting us when we drove up, dogs everywhere, it was heaven to me. Lee English took us to see our baby puppy. She was SO small and cute. I was so excited. I could not wait to pick her up when she was 2 months old. On October 10, 2010, we met Lee English in Tampa. She was showing her horses at the Tampa fairgrounds. We picked up Lily Joy, and that was the new best day of my life. We enjoyed almost 15 years with our Lily Joy. She was like the sister I never had. Today she passed away at 14.5 years old on February 23, 2025, and it feels like part of my childhood and my heart has gone with her. I know my sweet angel is reunited with Lee English, Lulu, Little Man, and her siblings. And if I had to imagine what doggy heaven might look like, I think it would look a lot like Lee English´s farm in Lecanto.

We wanted to send our sincere condolences to the loss of Mrs Lee English. Something sparked me to take a look at the "Corgis Lady´s" website, and when I read that she had passed in December, my heart sunk. Mrs. Lee provided top notch Corgis as we have three of her dogs, picture attached; who are incredible super sweet, super smart, and just all around the best dogs we´ve ever had. She will be greatly missed.
Please know the English family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Ken & Tracy Flanders, with Finn (black/white) Foo (Blue Merle) & Bodhi (brindle)
