Leonard Altavilla Obituary

The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Leonard R. Altavilla , age 78, of Beverly Hills, Florida, will be held 11:30 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Beverly Hills Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Chaplain Chuck Cooley officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, FL.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com. Leonard was born September 24, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of Ralph and Josephine (Emmanuel) Altavilla. He died April 9, 2016 in Beverly Hills, FL.
He worked as a Executive for the US Postal Service for 33 years and moved to Beverly Hills, Florida from Pittsburgh, PA in 1994. Leonard was a master gardener, an Adult Literacy tutor and an avid reader.
He enjoyed jazz music and Frank Sinatra. Mr. Altavilla was Christian by faith. Mr. Altavilla was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Susanna Altavilla. Survivors include 2 sons: Ralph (Lori) Altavilla of Beverly Hills, FL and Mike (Cheryl) Altavilla of Raleigh, NC, sister, Antoinette Lytle of Pittsburgh, PA, 5 Grandchildren: Meagan, Amy, Christopher, Kevin and Nicole and a great-grandchild, Daniel.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
