Lori Ann Hess, age 64 of Inverness, FL passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2024 at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital (Citrus Memorial.) She was born in Kingston, NY on September 28, 1960 to James and Carolyn (DuBois) Mitchell and previously worked from home for the Citrus County Chronicle newspaper for 30 years as a Copy Editor/Transcriptionist. She retired in 2023.
Lori moved to Inverness in 1984, where she met the love of her life, Tim, after being originally hired in the business office of the Chronicle. Lori and Tim married in 1985 and were blessed with two children, Jared and Melissa, a few years later.
Her life revolved around her family and they spent their time raising their children and taking them on some amazing adventures as they grew. The Hesses were a beach family, known for towing their boat behind them every summer, whether it be to the beautiful local lakes, or exploring the waters of Melbourne, The Keys and Sanibel Island.
Lori had a life filled with love and beautiful memories. Tragically, the sudden death of Melissa ended those family trips in 2007. But, a few years later, they were soon replaced with more beach trips with Jared and granddaughter Haleigh, usually for long weekends on Treasure Island. It was another favorite beach. Lori had a lot of favorite beaches! She was a devoted daughter and loved her parents dearly. She had such a kind heart and was taken from this earth way too suddenly and way too soon. Her remaining family will forever cherish her devotion and kindness.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 39 years, Timothy S. "Tim" Hess of Inverness; her son, Jared Timothy Hess; her parents, James and Carolyn Mitchell of Inverness; and her granddaughter, Haleigh Hess. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; James Mitchell, Jeffrey Mitchell, Sharon Mitchell and Susan Bunch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa on May 27, 2007.
Lori's life will be remembered, honored and celebrated by family and friends, but those arrangements will be made at a later date. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.

I keep having flashbacks of earlier memories when I was just a little kid, when you guys first got the house, all the home videos Tim recorded and pictures we took, how happy I was when we had holidays together..I wasn't able to spend the time I wanted to with my aunt like I wanted to after we lost Mel, whom I also miss and think about all the memories with. I miss you uncle Tim Hess and Jared Hess and I hope we can spend some more time together. Because as we know, time is too short, abrupt, taking and heartbreaking, and I'll never stop loving my family. How close she was with me when I was a kid and growing up she was like a second mother to me..I'll cherish her and these memories I have forever. My heart is forever changed..please reach out to me if you'd like to see me, spend time, reminisce and be there for eachother for strength. I'll always be here and love you guys. Aunt Lori was one of the best people I've ever met and I'm so blessed to have had her be that person in my family and treat me so well. I will forever cherish her.
