Mary Jean Roy entered into the presence of the Lord on September 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Jean was born on May 14, 1938, in Waleetka, Oklahoma.
At the young age of 14, she experienced the loss of her mother, Laura McFarland, and was placed in a Masonic home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she remained until she graduated high school at 18. Soon after, she moved to California, where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Roy. They married on March 16, 1957, and together built a beautiful family, raising two children, Debbie and Leon.
Their journey eventually led them to Holyoke, Massachusetts, where Jean worked at the Bank of Boston and Bob served as a police officer. When their golden years arrived, Jean and Bob moved to Hernando, Florida. Together, they embraced retirement to the fullest – spending their days golfing, traveling in their motorhome, playing cards, enjoying mahjong, attending church, and singing in the choir with her granddaughter.
Yet, of all the titles they held in life, their most cherished were "Meme and Grandpe." Their grandchildren were the light of their world, and they never missed a single milestone or special moment. After 56 years of marriage, Bob was called home to be with the Lord. Jean continued to be surrounded by family, celebrating her grandchildren's weddings and later welcoming three great granddaughters, Lila, Vivian, and Olivia. They brought her great joy and remained the center of her heart.
Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Laura; her beloved husband, Bob; her son, Leon; and her four brothers, Francis, AW, Richard, and David. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Debbie, and her husband, Bobby Busby of Hernando, Florida; granddaughter Heather and her husband, Justin Woolverton of Enid, Oklahoma, along with their four children; grandson Andrew and his wife, Genesis Chagnon of Citrus Springs, and their daughter; and the children of her late son, Leon – grandson Lino Fazio of New Jersey, and grandson Antonio with his wife Amanda and their son, Alessandro, of New Jersey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Blanchard, and her husband, Richard of Longmeadow, MA; her lifelong friend Karlene Shea of Holyoke, MA; Jackie Shea of Massachusetts; and Paul and Kathy Shea of Holyoke, Massachusetts.
A memorial service for Jean will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 1 PM at Heinz Funeral Home, 2507 Highway 44 W., Inverness, Florida. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jean's faith, donations can be made to World Harvest Church, 1417 South Garland Rd., Enid, Oklahoma, in support of the Central America Missions Team, where Jean's granddaughter and her family serve in ministry.
