Michael Grundei

1943 - 2010

Michael Edward Grundei, age 67, Hernando, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his residence. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with military honors by the Hernando VFW Post #4252. The family will receive friends in visitation on Thursday, May 20, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Michael was born on January 27, 1943, to the late Edward and Vivian (Spencer) Grundei, and came to this area in 1995 from there. Michael was an elevator constructor employed by National Elevator Industry Local #37 for 23 years. He served our country in the United States Army. Michael was a member of Hernando VFW Post #4252, Inverness American Legion #155 and Inverness Moose Lodge. He was Catholic by faith. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. Studying history and discussing politics were both items of interest to Mike.
His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marsha Grundei, Hernando; two sons, Bryan K. (Sabrina) Grundei, San Antonio, TX and Todd E. (Julia) Grundei, Columbus, OH; four brothers, David Grundei, Greg (Susan) Grundei, Kenny (Becky) Grundei and Patrick Grundei, all of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Diane (Roger) Chrisman, Columbus, OH, and Marianne (J.R.) Richardson, Westerville, OH; three grandchildren, Courtney, Garhett and Abigail; his father and mother-in-law, Robert C. and Emma Minnix, Ocala; and three brothers-in-law, Robert (Delores) Minnix, Columbus, OH, Michael Minnix, Hernando, FL, and Mark (Joyce) Minnix, Columbus, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mike's name to The American Cancer Society.
