Rebecca Pound Obituary

Rebecca Lou Pound, age 82, Inverness, FL passed away July 24, 2022 at Citrus Health and Rehab Center. A native of Leonardville, KS, she was born on September 30, 1939 to the late Harry and Lucille (Westling) Carlson. Lucille passed away when Rebecca was 8 years old and Harry remained her beloved step-mother Laura (Isles) Carlson. Rebecca moved to Inverness with her late husband, Don Pound in 1996 from Georgia.

Rebecca "Becky" was a Speech Pathologist at Inverness Primary School and later at Life Care Center. Her professional affiliations included the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Florida Speech and Hearing association. She was active in Our Lady of Fatima Parish where she served as a bible study leader, trained Lectors for the church, and sang in the choir. Becky loved animals and was an avid movie buff who could list Oscar-winning movies and enjoyed movie trivia.

She is survived by her granddaughter Angela McHugh, 5 sons, 4 daughters, 12 other grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Pound on October 25, 2014.

The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday July 30, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Suszynski, Celebrant. Burial will follow at a later date in Fredonia Cemetery in Fredonia, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Helping Hands at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was a very special lady. I remember her passion for sharing kindness, compassion, and dedication in her work in Parsons, KS. She was very open and welcoming of "the kids" that hung out at their house on occasion. A lot of good memories. My sincere condolences to the family.

Becky and I sang on the choir at Saint Mary´s in Parsons, Kansas. She was a wonderful teacher to some of my Community Service students. My daughter and I visited with she and Don after they moved to Florida. We stayed in touch by phone and always talked movies. I missed our conversations the past two years. Condolences to all the family.

So sorry for your loss. My family knew her from church. I was just inquiring about Rebecca a couple of weeks ago to Debbie Sosnicki. She informed me on her health. Even though she will be missed, she is at peace and able to be reunited with Don. God bless you Rebecca Pound.

She was a handful, but I loved her & Don. She treated me like a daughter, and always amazed me the way she read through a book, and would highlight the important parts and would teach it, remembering every detail.
The funniest memory (now) was when she was working at a rehab facility in Ocala. She stopped by the church to retrieve something from her classroom. The door was locked so she used her keys to let herself in. She drove all the way to Ocala and then realized she had left her keys in the classroom. Her keys included her key fob for her car! Once she turned it off, she was stuck in Ocala. So, I received a frantic call from Rebecca. I told her I would bring her the key fob, which I did.....in probably the worst rainstorm I had ever driven through!
Rest In Peace Rebecca!! You are now with your beloved Don. God finally said; it´s time.
