Richard Bardsley Obituary

Former resident of Staten Island, New York, Richard Bardsley, 62, died Aug. 23, 2014, at his home in Homosassa, Florida.
Richard passed away under the care of hospice and surrounded by loving family and friends at his side.
He was born Nov. 25, 1951, to the late Vincent and Ann Bardsley on Staten Island, New York.
Richard graduated from New Dorp High School in 1969 and was enlisted in the U.S. Army military division.
He loved helping people and got along wonderfully with them. Richard loved to dance. As a young adult, he volunteered his time at Willow Brook care center for special needs.
Richard had hands of gold. He worked most of his life in the construction industry, building and renovating residential and commercial buildings, from hospitals to new homes. Richie had worked with his brother Wayne Bardsley of Quality Crafted Builders for a number of years.
In his youth, he achieved the rank of sixth-degree black belt in the art of Vadha - a form of Indian karate. Richard Bardsley fought at Sunnyside Gardens and Madison Square Gardens in New York, and he was also featured in Black Belt magazine.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Linda Rose Bardsley; and children Janice Kennedy, Adam Bardsley, Richard Bardsley, Susan Bardsley, Ralph Bardsley and Vincent Bardsley; and 11 grandchildren. Richard is also survived by his brothers, Vincent Bardsley, Wayne Bardsley, George Bardsley and Hugh Bardsley; and his loving sister Susan Ann Williamson.
Richard's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile, unconditional love of life and sense of humor brought so much joy to our family.
Husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, you are in our prayers and hearts forever.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Amazing Grace Fellowship By the Sea, 718 Highway 40 W., Inglis, Florida, with Pastor Tom and wife Laura officiating.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, 8471 W. Perrywinkle Lane, Homosassa, FL 34446.

Richie was the kind and handsome big brother to my best high school friend Sue. Many days were spent at the Emmett Avenue house as we were growing up. I will always remember him coming to the table where Sue, myself and her mom, the lovely Mrs. Anne Bardsley were having tea, and him saying " Hello Hon" to his mom, and then a kind smile and hello to us. I am deeply sorry for your family loss. Many kind regards and prayers to you all.

when I was 18 I "came out" I was scared that my friends were going to reject me. Richie asked the boys to invite me over to dinner, when I got there he told me I was welcome to his home no matter what my life style. Then he made me say grace! Haha. I'll never forget it. Richie was a great man and raised a great family my heart and condolences go out to all the Bardsley's and the Thompson's.

What can I say, But I love you Rich.
You fought long and hard. You had such bravery to the end. The Love of everyone all around you was such a legacy of the life, of the Man you were.
The Energy of Jesus and the Angels were all around as the peacefulness fell upon you. You were a terrific Brother-in law, always there to give me a warm hello ,piece of mind, and good conversation.
From the first day I met you , you welcomed me into your Family. I was so blessed that our roads crossed . To meet you was to Love you. To know you was my gift from God. Thank You.
