Robert Preston Dyson

Robert Preston Dyson was born April 12, 1935 in Surrey County, North Carolina to the late Esther and Eugene Dyson. His sisters Yvonne, Juanita, and Roxie Bernice Bell preceded him in death. Robert transitioned on Wednesday January 9, 2019.
The family moved to Connecticut where Robert attended Hartford Public Schools. He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
His professional career began at Royal Typewriter, Veeder-Root, Monsanto, Emhart and finally retired from Ford Motor Company Headquarters in 2001. Robert and his wife of 56 years, Olivia Brown Dyson, a retired educator moved to Homosassa, Florida to enjoy the warm climate and allow Robert to enjoy endless rounds of golf.
Robert and Olivia are the proud parents of Deborah Dyson of London, England and Dr. Stacey Dyson Willingham and husband Marc of Atlanta, Georgia. The loving grandparents of Andrew Dyson and Danielle Renee, special nieces Barbara Harris Hardy, Toni Ligon, Barbara Jean Vaughn and nephews Rodney Harris, Curtis Harris, McKenzie Moraven, and Marques Ruff. Also, godparent to Charles Robinson III of Tampa Bay, and a host of other relatives and friends.
While in Hartford, Robert served as a director and treasurer of Community Health Services and served on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Girl's Homes Inc. He continued his public service activities in Florida serving as a mentor and tutor for boys at a local school and member of the architectural Control Board of Oak Village in Sugar Mills Woods.
Robert was a member of Southern Woods Golf and Country Club. He will be missed by his beloved family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
