Robert Doucet of Worcester, Massachusetts, died on March 18, 2026, after a brief illness.
He was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on May 30, 1944, the son of Joseph E. Doucet and Sophie M. (Legere) Doucet. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in June 1962. Mr. Doucet received his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut in June 1971 and later received his Master of Science degree in applied mathematics from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 1972. He also taught mathematics part-time at the University of Arizona. Mr. Doucet attended the University of Texas in Austin, Texas in 1973-1974 where he studied aerospace engineering.
Before becoming ill, Mr. Doucet worked from 1989 to 1991 at the Worcester Art Museum. He also served in the U.S. Army reserves for six years from 1964 to 1970 in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Arizona. Mr. Doucet never married and had no children. He leaves a niece, Denise Christian (Thomas), of St. Peters, Missouri. He is predeceased by two brothers, Roger Doucet, who died in 2013, and Norman Doucet, who died in 2006.
Mr. Doucet resided at the St. Mary’s Health Care Center in Worcester, Massachusetts for several years. He enjoyed music and listening to sports on the radio. He had an abiding interest in nuclear non-proliferation.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11 AM, at the Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA.
Burial will be in the Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA following the service.
