We are heartbroken to announce that our wonderful husband, grandfather, father and brother Robert E. Medd, II, 75, of Crystal River, FL passed away January 10, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on October 20, 1948 in Springfield, IL to Robert E. & Virginia I Medd. He served 3 tours in Vietnam as a Radioman in the US Navy. Following his return, he became a Calibration Technician and eventually worked in Unit 3 at the Crystal River Power Plant for Florida Power & Light and later, Progress Energy. Robert was a member at Kelley's Gym, Main Street Gym, and the YMCA. He also coached soccer and was an umpire with little league baseball while his sons played. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball himself in his youth.
Robert loved animals and was affectionately known by his family as the "animal whisperer". He loved his family and especially adored his granddaughter Kieran, who called him "Papa." He spent many happy hours playing with her.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy L Medd; children Gavin Medd (wife Heeral) and Shandell Medd; siblings Pam Schiermeier (husband Chris) and Randy Medd (wife Linda); and granddaughter Kieran Medd. He will be deeply missed and always cherished.
Visitation will be held from 10AM-12PM, with a funeral service beginning at 12PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL.
Burial will follow with full military honors at Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Beverly Hills, FL.

Have not seen Bob and Nancy for over 25 yrs. but they have faithfully sent me a Christmas greeting card every year since my husband passed in 2004. Bob and my husband Gary worked and partied together while employed at Florida Power. Nancy, your memories of your years together will carry you through!
