William Shaw Obituary

Bill was born on June 18, 1947 in Canton Il, and married the love of his life, Cynthia on May 19, 1978. Bill spent a lifetime in service to his country and community. He was a US Navy Veteran for 4 years serving in Vietnam with the Seabees (CB3 1968-1969) If you were to ask Bill if he was in the Navy, he would say, "No ... I was in the Seabees!" Following his service of his country, Bill returned to Florida and worked for the Florida Agriculture as an agriculture officer for 2 years, then served 19 years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Collier County Sheriff's office. After his retirement, he and Cindy relocated to Floral City, and he proudly held many positions with the Joe Nic Barco VFW Post #7122, including Post Commander for 6 Years and VFW District 7 Commander for 1 year.

Bill enjoyed hunting with his sons, and loved his "hunting camp" and working on the property at his getaway in Alabama. Great memories for everyone.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of 47 years and 4 sons; William Shaw Jr. (Noelia), Christopher Shaw (Jamie), Michael Reynolds (Kristen) and Jason Reynolds (Shatae). Sister, Debra Leiter, along with 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Military Honors for Bill be at the Florida National Cemetery by the VFW Post 7122 Honor Guard on Wednesday, Sept 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held immediately following at VFW Post 7122 in Floral City.
