Benjamin Yee Obituary

Benjamin Yee

Cincinnati - Benjamin Yee, age 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Beloved husband of Mary Martha (nee Naltner) Yee, loving father of Jennifer (Erick) Greber, Michelle (Matt) Louis, Ann (Rebecca) Yee, Ben (Heather) Yee, Will (Jenna) Yee. Cherished Grandpa and Papa Yee to Grace, Jack, Nick, Will, Kai, Evie, and Quinn. Dear brother of Hope (Maurice) Lee, late Joseph (Catherine) Yee, late William Yee, brother-in-law of Barb (late Joe) Williams, Jeanne (Jim) Frede, Dick (Barb) Naltner. Also survived by many fantastic nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Ben was a Korean War Veteran, honorably discharged from the US Army as a first lieutenant. His dedication to the City of Cincinnati spanned over 30 years through the Police Department, Recreation Commission and the Health Department. To commemorate the day of his retirement, July 31, 1985 was named Ben Yee Day in the City of Cincinnati. He finished his professional career with service to The University of Cincinnati, the Hamilton County government and The Camera Department.

Ben raised his voice in song for The Kings Men, The Colerain Summer Chorus and the St. Ignatius Choir. His humor could light up any room; he never met a stranger. Nobody had a smile like Ben's. His humility was his strength, and his kindness had no limits.

Visitation will be held on April 27th at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral home at 5527 Cheviot Road 45247 from 9-11am, followed by an 11:30am Mass at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 5222 North Bend Road, 45247, immediately followed by a reception in Hilvert Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and Hospice of Cincinnati. www.mrfh.com

I wanted to reach out on behalf of Bergman Family to express our condolences. My father Harvey Bergman had worked with Ben when he worked for the Recreation Department. My father shared with us how much he enjoyed working Mr. Yee. My father passed away this past September. I picture clearly the times I met Ben and will always remember the friendship my father had with him. They were both very special men.

with warm regards,

Laurence Bergman
and the entire Bergman Family

Ben and I were teammates on the 1948-49 basketball team (of which he was co-captain) at Walnut Hills HS. He was admired and respected by every member of that team. I am proud to have been his friend.

What a great man and I held him as one of my best friends. He welcomed me to St. I's the first time he saw me and I will miss him. He and I spoke on the phone during his illness. I have never met a nicer or more sincere man. He was always joyful and the Lord is now opening the door for him as i write. Lot of love to Ben. Don Voet
