Donald Jordan Obituary
Donald Starr; Beloved husband of Mary (nee Haupt) Jordan for 53 years. Loving father of Julie (John Slewitzke) Jordan, Jane (Kurt) Haffner and Michael (Jennifer) Jordan. Devoted son of the late Albert and Margaret (nee Rapp) Jordan and son-in-law of the late Lawrence and Myrtle Haupt. Caring brother of the late David C. Jordan. Phenomenal grandfather to Heidi Marie Jaeger, Jaden Michelle Jordan and Luke Edward Haffner. Dedicated uncle to 8 nieces and nephews. Don transitioned to the next stage of his journey with God on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 79 years of age. Don was educated in the hills of Clifton via Clifton Elementary School, Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering. He worked as an industrial engineer for Mead Containers and Ethicon Endosurgery, retiring after 40 plus years. He was a man of service to his family and others as he lived the principles he learned as a Boy Scout, Unity Youth Leader and as Past Master of Lafayette Masonic Lodge. Don was integrally involved in his children's Corpus Christi and Mt. Healthy activities and was always their biggest fan. All were truly blessed to have him in their lives. Visitation will be held at the Neidhard Young Funeral Home 7401 Hamilton Ave. Mt. Healthy on Thursday from 4:30 pm until time of funeral service at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children 3229 Burnet Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45229 or to a charity of donor's choice. In 1958 I met Don in the lunch line at Hughes High where he was a guard. We liked each other, and he asked me for a date. At first my strict parents were skeptical as I was in tenth grade, and he was a senior. At first meeting them he instantly made a wonderful impression, and they relented. It was thrilling to be taken to UC basketball games. i remember him telling me that his father, Councilman Al Jordan would not permit him to play football for which he had the right physique. Eventually he tutored me in plane geometry, my only failing grade on an otherwise all A report card. We lost touch after he graduated. Over the years I've wondered what became of this kind man. So it is not surprising to read here what a wonderful family man and citizen he became. My condolences to his family.
