In 1958 I met Don in the lunch line at Hughes High where he was a guard. We liked each other, and he asked me for a date. At first my strict parents were skeptical as I was in tenth grade, and he was a senior. At first meeting them he instantly made a wonderful impression, and they relented. It was thrilling to be taken to UC basketball games. i remember him telling me that his father, Councilman Al Jordan would not permit him to play football for which he had the right physique. Eventually he tutored me in plane geometry, my only failing grade on an otherwise all A report card. We lost touch after he graduated. Over the years I've wondered what became of this kind man. So it is not surprising to read here what a wonderful family man and citizen he became. My condolences to his family.
