Frederick LEININGER Obituary

LEININGER . Frederick G., DVM. Beloved husband of Lynn Nadine Rau Leininger; devoted father of Eric (Claire) Leininger of Lake Barrington, IL, Karen (Chuck) Parrish of Libertyville, IL, Mark Leininger of New York, NY, Gail (Robert) Ternes of Roseville, CA, and Susan (Kevin) Norman of Plainfield, IN; dear brother of Kathryn (Carl) Grueninger; cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, Emily, Amy, Kevin, David, Nathan, Timothy, Ruth, and James; fond brother-in-law of William (Hilda) Rau. Dr. Leininger founded the Glenway Animal Hospital in 1958 and practiced veterinary medicine there until 1995. He was active in the advancement of his profession, serving as President of the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association; Chairman of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association Political Action Committee, and President of the Ohio State University Omega Tau Sigma veterinary fraternity alumni organization. Upon retirement, Dr. Leininger volunteered his services to the Mte Marine Aquarium as a research associate and served on the board of the Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary. On June 14, 2002, Dr. and Mrs. Leininger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all of their children and grandchildren in attendance. Dr. Leininger passed away on Monday, February 23, 2004 at the age of 73. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, from lO A.M. until time of service 11 A.M. at the Jon Dietloff Funeral Centre, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. The Reverend Kirk Pike will officiate. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary, 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota, FL (34236).
