Gerald ERVIN Obituary

ERVIN

Gerald Lee Ervin, "Jerry", age 65. Devoted husband of the late Christeen (Langdon) Ervin. Loving father of Dawn Hare (Talliver), the late Sherry Freeman, Kristen Carter, Jimmy Carter (Janis), Joe Carter (Amy), and Jaime Carter. Survived by his brother Eddie Ervin (Carol), 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jerry, known to his great-grandchildren as "King Grandpa," loved so many things about life. He loved his family, his life in Florida, working in his yard, canoeing, corn hole, bocce, ping pong, music, football (Go Bengals! Go Broncos!), professional soccer, good food and drink, and his "lost weekends" with childhood friends. He could tell a story and make you laugh like no one else, and he never met a stranger. Private service is planned. Donations may be made to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch (http://www.youthranches.org/donate/online-donations). Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, FL.

We were exchanging shy looks on a school bus bound for Schroeder Jr.Hi, and you became my 8th grade sweet heart. For months we dropped off notes and flowers with their love meanings to each other before we went to class. You were my first sweet romance. Thank you for that. I´m looking at your 11th grade class picture and remembering those long ago times, and grateful that you had generations of family who shared your life.

I only met Jerry a couple of times but he had the greatest sense of humor! Had me in stitches the time I watched a Bengals game with him. My brother in law, Steve and the rest of their gang loved the guy and are shattered by this loss. He definitely will be missed.

You always made me smile!

I am so sadend by this news. I worked, partied, and played with Jerry (Ten Dollar Bob as he was affectionately known in the plant)and have a great deal of respect for him. Had a few very memorable camp'n trips to the Red River Gorge with him. Jerry was truely a man who knew how to have FUN! My condolences to the family, he will not be forgotten.
