Mr. Kater, was the nicest man anyone who ever worked for, he was a sweet smiling person who would make you feel so comfortable in his presence. I worked for him for 23 1/2 years in NY to Florida were we all reside now. Dan made the transititon to allow our company try different avenues in the film industry. We all strived to make this work, but when the cassettes were going out and the also the videos, we did not know what to do then to take our losses and close the company. I felt that he did all he could do for all of us. I wanted to say to his wife Joyce and the family. Mr. Kater was a nice respected man. he would go to lunch with Bill Oard, Jim Mc Poland, Dick Bause, and Larry Gunter and plan events for our company to have. He would include sometimes my dad, Vincent Valentino, who also recently passed on April 12th at the age of 92. We will all miss these wonderful men. Modern will never be the same without them. While working at Modern, your dad would get alot of phone calls, I was then the receptionist and he would say Linda you are doing a good job, that woudl mean alot to me. He cheered us up, he made us feel like he cared and welcomed everyone in the "family" company as this was His family. No one ever felt anything else not when Dan was around. There was no other president in this company that made you feel like this, except my dad Vinnie ( but vinnie was not a president, just my supervisor and my dad).
My heart goes out to you all, for your loss is also in my heart.
Your dad and husband was loved by many. Just look to God for all your answers and God bless his family for allowing all of us to be a part of his life. He was loved by many here in Florida.
