Holly Renz SMITH

SMITH Holly Renz. Died February 2, 2006 Lake Leelanau: Holly Anne (Renz) Smith, 68, of Lake Leelanau, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at Munson Medical Center. Holly was born in Cincinnati, on Dec. 27, 1937 the daughter of Dr. Andrew and Marjorie (Putt) Renz. She graduated from Wyoming High School in Cincinnati with the class of 1956. Afterwards Holly attended the University of Alabama and Northwestern University. She married and had three children. Holly moved with her military family all over the world, however; she always maintained Omena as her life long residence. Holly returned to college and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1977. After graduation she worked with the original founders of Borders Books at the Ann Arbor store. During her lifetime Holly was a member of the 99's Women's Pilots Association. She was an avid sailor of boats such as Penguins to Sunfishes. Holly was the youngest member of the Cincinnati Chorale. She founded and operated Ilex Book Service in Ann Arbor. Holly is survived by her husband, Conway, a daughter, Marjorie S. Smith, two sons, Preston C. and Timothy G. Smith; her first husband Craig S. Smith; a brother William A. Renz and five loving grandchildren, Kate Smith, Kira Smith, Avery Kahn, Declan Kahn and Lilly Smith. Visitation will be 2 to 4 P.M., Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. Burial will be in the spring in East Leland Cemetery.
