James CARR Obituary
CARR
James R. Carr, M.D., died at the age 89 on May 28, 2015, in his hometown of Hamilton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Bard), in 2007. Dr. Carr was born on March 9, 1926, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Sam and Mary (Heath) Carr. After serving two years in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Carr earned a bachelor's degree in business from Miami University and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical College in 1956. Specializing in the field of urology, Dr. Carr practiced medicine for 36 years - the first six in Cincinnati and the last 30 in Hamilton. He was the team physician for Taft and Hamilton High's football and basketball teams for more than 20 years. He was named the 1997 Ohio Outstanding Team Physician of the Year by the Ohio State Medical Association. Dr. Carr is survived by his three children, James Carr of West Hartford, Conn., Katherine Christen, PhD, of Hamilton, and David Carr of Fairfield. He enjoyed no greater title than that of "Pa Pa" to Katherine and husband Keith Christen's three young children, Chloe, Carly and Carson. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Carr's memory can be made to: Anne B. Carr Scholarship Fund at the Hamilton Community Foundation, 319 N. Third Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011, or Boys & Girls Club of Hamilton, 948 East Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45011 (Attn: Karen Miller). A Mass of Christian Burial for close friends and family has been scheduled for Monday, June 1 at 10:00 am at St. Peter in Chains Church, 451 Ridgelawn Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. A memorial ceremony will be held at the Hamilton High School Auditorium, 1165 Eaton Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45013, on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Dear Jimmy, KT, & David,
I was very sorry to hear the news of your father's passing. Big Jim was a great man, doctor, community leader, and a friend of many. I know you all must be at a loss.
Jimmy, I will forever be grateful for all the opportunities to go to Reds, Bengals, and Notre Dame football games with you and your father.
Your dad will forever be remembered for his generation of leaders, his kind soul, and for all the contributions that he made, especially to Hamilton High School (the Big Blue) and in the community. Big Jim was known by everyone.
I hope the fond memories of your father will replace the pain and anguish of his passing.
Your dad was a man of great respect, along with your mother.

The world has lost a bright light and incredible human being. I will always treasure the memories of some fun Christmas dinners we had with the Carrs and will especially never ever forget Dr. Carr's incredible sense of humor. More recently, out of the kindness of his heart, Dr. Carr provided transportation and companionship to my mom as she had to go all the way to Indianapolis for chemotherapy treatments. He and the unforgettable, beautiful and wonderful Anne Carr will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never ever forget them. We all miss them and ache knowing they are no longer physically here, but as the faithful know (and they were certainly faithful people), we will see them again one day in the kingdom of Heaven. xo to all the family!

Sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Carr. He was a great supporter of Hamilton and gave much to the city and the school disrtrict. He will be missed by his many friends. My sympathy to his family.
