James Marshall Obituary

James J. Marshall

Reading - James "Jim" Marshall from Reading, Ohio, age 68, passed away on April 10, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. Jim left behind an impressive legacy of courage and strength for his family and friends. He was pre-deceased by parents James and Lucille Marshall. He is survived by his partner of 45 years, Nancy Marshall (Harcourt), four beautiful children: Gina (Dan) Esquinas, Matthew (Shannon) Marshall, Joseph Marshall, and Jesse (Aime) Marshall and grandchildren Daniel and Sophia Esquinas, Noah, Ezrah, Xander, Atlas and Brielle Marshall. He was the beloved brother of Diane (the late Perry) Tarr, John (Tammy) Marshall, Patty (John) Burke, Bill (Lisa) Marshall and Mary Jo Brady. Also survived by a niece, nephews and many friends.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Lubbock, Texas Meteorology Unit before returning to Cincinnati and pursuing a career as a concrete craftsman with a passion and expertise recognized by many in the industry. Jim was an avid sportsman and exercise devotee. In his final years he enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors and physical fitness with his grandchildren.

Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends and all who were honored to know him.

In a last thoughtful gesture Jim made the decision to donate his body to science. It was his hope that through this action progress would continue in cancer research and to an ultimate cure.

A private Celebration of Life Ceremony has been arranged for immediate family and Jim's close personal friends on April 25th.

Donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
