James TOBIN Obituary

TOBIN James E., 70 years, a resident of Fairfield Dr., Kennebunk, ME, died Monday at his home. Mr. Tobin was born in Waterbury, CT on March 8, 1931 a son of Dr. Thomas J. and Florence (Rueter) Tobin and graduated from the Taft School in Waterbury, CT and Tufts University in Medford, MA. He worked in Waterbury for Anaconda American Brass Company as National Marketing Manager. In 1982, he moved to Barrington, IL with Arco Metals until his retiring in 1994 and moving to Kennebunk, ME. During his retirement, he worked at Cape Arundel Golf Course of Kennebunkport, ME. He was a member of the Country Club of Waterbury, and elected to the Board of Education. He was a volunteer coach for several sports teams in which his children participated. He was proud that all of his nine children graduated from college and have become successful in their own lives. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan (Mullen) Tobin of Kennebunk, ME., five sons, Dr. James E. Tobin Jr. of Madbury, NH, Patrick M. Tobin of Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas J. Tobin of Cincinnati, OH, Matthew M. Tobin and Mark M. Tobin both of Chicago, IL, and four daughters Tara A. Tobin of Watertown, CT, Catherine M. Dreher, Elizabeth Kitzman and Sheila Kunkel all of Chicago, IL and 23 grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 P.M., Thursday, August 9, 2001 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, August 10th, 2001 at the St. Martha's Church, Portland, Rd., Kennebunk, ME with the Rev. Laurent Laplante officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115 in Mr. Tobin's memory. Arrangements by the Bibber Memorial Chapel-Kennebunk.
