Joan LANCASTER Obituary

LANCASTER

Joan M. 81 years, of Sarasota, went into the presence of her loving Lord on Tuesday, May 8, in her home following her short battle with pancreatic cancer. A native of Ohio, she was the wife of Richard Kirby Lancaster M.D. and the daughter of the late Harry W. Mehrhoff and Margaret Louise (Jones) Mehrhoff. Mrs. Lancaster was a beloved member of the Evangel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two of her daughters, Peggy Lancaster and Sharon Belser; leaves her cherished four daughters Kathy Lancaster, Laura Harris, Louise Homan, and Cindy Nickum; and her one son Kirby Lancaster Jr. She had a passionate love for her twenty-one grandchildren: Rich Branson, Kirby Lancaster III, Carolynn Balcar, Jana Nickum, Philip Homan, Bhec Lancaster, Jobe Homan, Brian Belser (deceased), Chad Homan, Ben Nickum, Laurie Homan, Will Homan, Heidi Belser, Tiffany Shiffer, Randy Harris Jr., Rose Goad, Alex Belser, Erin Homan, Christopher Harris, Emily Lancaster, and Nancie Homan. S he also leaves twelve great-grandchildren: Lily Goad, Owen Nickum, Bryan Strathman, Madelynn Homan, Jimmy Homan, Jered Ware, Jada Ware, Ellie Shiffer, Henry Nickum (deceased), Emma Nickum, Levi Nickum (deceased), and Roman Balcar. There will be a Memorial Service held at First Baptist Church of Glen Este on Tuesday, 15 May at 11:00am. The church building is located at 1034 Old State Route 74, Batavia, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations will be kindly received for the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, as Joan Lancaster has enjoyed a lifelong love for God's global redemptive heart. We are comforted by the glorious hope that is ours in Christ, in being absent from the body we are present with our Lord. T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home serving the family.

Who can adequately measure the influence that a godly mother has on the lives entrusted to her care? I truly thank God for every memory of my mom. She was my most avid cheerleader, always instilling within me that I could be anything God wanted me to be. Her untiring servant's heart, love of family, and gentle smile are missed. My heart rejoices in knowing that she is basking in the fulness of joy with her heavenly Father.

Joan, you were such an inspiration and a true Proverbs 31 woman and Titus 2 woman. You loved your husband and family and demonstrated this to us all and taught us how to love our husbands, be keepers of our home and to love our children. I will forever be grateful for your loving example of what a Godly woman should be. Thank you for investing in my life and the life of my family.

What an inspiration Joan has been in my life. She was The Lady that was always there to help, give, spend time with or whatever she could do for others.
She had a heart of gold and I will miss her very much. I know God said; Welcome home Joan, my good and faithful servant. My deepest sympathy to all the family.

We knew Joan for forty or so years.
She was the sweetest, soft spoken lady I had the honor to know. We continue to keep the family in our prayers.
What a wonderful memorial service in her honor. She has every right to be proud of her family.

Doc and family, Matthew and I wanted you all to know how sorry we are on the passing of Joan. But as Kirby, Jr. said this morning she is in a much better place with our Lord. I know Doris really missed Joan and now they are together again. Pastor Snook was correct in saying that Joan was a Proverbs 31 woman. Her character, and that of Doris has been a big inspiration to me.

We love you all,
Matthew, Suzanne, Brandi and Marybeth Smith

MOM, I called her that the first time I met her. She was always there for me. When Sharon went home to our lord she said to me Brian I'm Jealous, I said why? That Sharon got to meet our Lord before me. As God would have it I said the same thing to her when he called Brian Jr. Home. Now she is with them, and That is Golden. Love you MOM.
