Joseph G. beloved husband of the late Mary (Nee: Sylvester) Raphael. Loving father of Mary Ann (John Nork) Raphael, Rose (Jerry) Mussman, Sue (Mike) Kampel, Ann (Mark) Stowe, Gloria, Joe (Mary Jo) and Tom (Linda) Raphael. Cherished grandfather of J.D. (Lisa), Emily, Adam, Molly, Liz, Tim, Laura, Kevin, Jon, Mindy, Vince, Ally and Alex. Dear brother of Alberta Raphael and the late George and Tony Raphael and brother-in-law of Vito Sylvester. Also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family and friends. September 23, 2011. Age 92 years. Visitation will be Mon. Sept. 26th from 4:30 - 7:30 P.M. at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road, 451-8800. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tues. Sept. 27th 10:30 A.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Church. If so desired memorials may be made to Down Syndrome Assoc. of Greater Cinti., 644 Linn Street, Suite 1128, 45203-1734.

This is both a sad and happy time.
For me there is an emptiness at the loss of a person who made the world around him a friendly place.
But at the same time I want to celebrate the man who helped form the character and personalities of my closest friends.
Joe G. was a loving father devoted to his family. But his good nature, kindness and caring extended to everyone around him.
He was a positive influence on all who knew him. He leaves us a powerful model of a life well-lived. I am thankful for having been able to learn from him.
