Martha Hunter Obituary

Hunter

Martha Cornelia Hader Hunter, 96, of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, slipped from the surly bonds of this earth on August 12, 2017. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 30, 1920 to Henry and Alma Hader. She was the middle child with two brothers, Milton and James, both deceased. Henry, Milton, and James owned and operated the family business, Hader Hardware, until the 1990s. She was married to Oliver Harrison Hunter, Jr. on June 5, 1943. They were married for 59 years before Oliver passed away in 2001. She grew up in the Cincinnati area and remained in the area except for short spells during World War II and the Korean War. Marty graduated from Western Hills High School and Miami University. At Miami, she met the love of her life, Oliver. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and always referred to the Miami years as the best years of her life and was an active alumnus until her early 90's. Marty and Oliver settled in Fort Thomas, Kentucky where Oliver had grown up. They were life-time members of Highland Methodist Church. They raised two sons, Oliver III (Chip) and Dennis, and had many wonderful friends. She had two daughters-in-law, both named Susan, who she welcomed into the family and loved and treated as her own children. Marty had five grandchildren (Nathan, Peter, Chad, Emily, and Lauren) and four great grandchildren (Jocelin, Conner, Ella, and Jack). She treated all her sons' friends with love and, in turn, they all loved her for her graciousness and willingness to fix a quick meal for them. She made them feel special.

Marty had careers as a mother, grandmother, teacher, volunteer at a local orphanage, country club administrator, pediatrician's office manager, tour guide. In 1972, she took up painting as a hobby which she loved with a passion. Many of her paintings grace the wall of her sons' family homes. Marty was a person who loved life and shared that joy with many others. She had a knack for making people she met feel special. She loved her morning walks with friends. She had a wonderfully infectious smile and bright blue eyes. She leaves a legacy of love, happiness, and blessed family. We love her; she will be deeply missed. Services will be held on 11:00 AM Friday 08/18/2017 at the Highland United Methodist Church 314 N. Ft, Thomas Ave. in Ft. Thomas, KY. Visitation will be Friday from 9 AM to 11:00 AM at Highland United Methodist Church. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass 7388 Turfway Rd. in Florence, KY 41042. Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell serving the family.

I remember Martha. She was my mom's cousin (Mary Louise Hackstedde Krehbiel). Just thought about her and wondered if she was still alive. Greetings to all the Hunter and Hader clan. I live in Florida, but the rest of my brothers; Rob, John, Dick and Steve Krehbiel live in Cincinnati. Steve is the mayor of Indian Hill.

Sending my condolences to the family for one of my favorite ladies. Her smile was contagious. We were tour guides together and when I left the company Marty called to say I would be missed and I now can say she will be greatly missed. I have saved all of my beautiful Christmas Cards. So sorry for your loss but know you have an angel watching over all of you.

She will be greatly missed. I was her art teacher for 38 years and she did some beautiful paintings. I will always remember , she was the classiest lady that I ever knew! Michol Williamson
