Mary THOMAS Obituary

THOMAS

Mary Anna. How Glorious the day for our mother, how sad are our hearts as she concluded her journey here on this earth. Mary Anna, age 72, died July 30, 2011 in her home in College Hill, with her children at her side. We believe in His Resurrection and her everlasting life with our Lord, starting with her death. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald R. Thomas a loving mother to: Jennifer (Michael) Witt, Marilyn Thomas, Dan (Diane) Thomas, Kathleen (David) Reel and also to the late Colleen Thomas. She was an amazingly loving "Gmom" to Laura (Zac) Dawson, Alexander, Anna and Broderick Witt, Matthew Geier, Allison, Gerry, Julia, Claire and Marie Thomas, and Caroline, Molly and Shannon Reel. Mary Anna was a wonderful daughter to the late Leo and Ella Martin and sister to the late William (Juliann) Martin, Frank (the late Nancy) and Fred (Sally) Martin. She was a kind daughter~ in~ law to the late Daniel and Teresa Thomas. She was a caring sister ~in ~law to Ed (Gail) Thomas and the late Don (Mary Pat) Thomas. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews and was a Godmother to several. Mary Anna graduated from Good Samaritan Hospital in 1959. She worked as a servant of our Lord, as an RN for fifty years. She was an active member of St. Clare parish for over fifty years. Mary Anna loved life and lived everyday to the fullest. Family was her greatest source of love and enjoyment, but it was second only to her daily dedication to our Lord through prayer. She also was loved and cared for by many friends. Mary Anna volunteered for many charities, activities and projects, enjoyed traveling, and was an avid Bridge competitor. Life will never be the same without our loving mother and she will always be remembered for the love she gave so freely. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Ave., College Hill Friday ~ August 5, 2011 from 5 - 8 PM, with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clare Church, 1443 Cedar Ave., College Hill Saturday ~ August 6, 2011 at 9:30 AM. We will conclude our honor to our mother, as we lay her peacefully between her loving husband and precious daughter at Oak Hill cemetery, following Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support CCHS research for Mary Anna's grandson Matthew Geier. I worked with MaryAnn at Maple Knoll Home health. She was such a kind, caring and fun person. She was a great Mother but an even better G Mom, everyone knew how much she loved her grandkids. She will be missed. I have your family in my prayers.

Mary Ann was an awesome nurse. My sister and I worked with her at Holmes hospital in the 80s and she was definitely one of the best and the brightest. I was always glad to see that Mary Ann was going to be on with me during my shift. She was a very nice, warm and genuine person too. She will be missed. My heart goes out to the entire family.
