Peggy Katz Obituary

Peggy Lee Katz

Cincinnati - Peggy Lee Katz passed away peacefully at her home in Loveland, Ohio on Friday evening, January 26, 2018. She was 93 years old.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 16, 1924 to parents Sarah and David Okum. Her older brother Leo is deceased and she is survived by her younger brother Milton. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Aaron A. Katz and devoted mother of Jay and Joan Katz of Tucson, AZ. Robert and Shelley Katz of Potomac, MD. Nancy and Arthur Berman of Sugar Land, TX. and Terry Katz of Morrow, OH.

Peggy grew up and lived in the greater Cincinnati area her entire life. She and her husband Aaron, fell in love and married in the early days of World War II. While Aaron served in the Army Medical Corps, Peggy worked at The Federal Reserve Bank, and later in retail sales.

Her family and Jewish faith were always at the center of her life. Peggy had eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She always called to sing Happy Birthday to each of them as well as to her children's spouses. Her greatest joy was to bring everyone together for events such as birthdays, anniversaries and family reunions.

She volunteered at her parents' and later, at her husband's nursing home. She moved to Loveland to be close to her husband during his final years at the Cedar Village Care and Community.

Peggy was a role model for her children and grandchildren. She was always attentive as she listened to their hopes and problems but also forthright when she gave them advice based on her experience in life. She made everyone feel special and encouraged them to stand by their beliefs and values.

She was active and independent throughout her life and wanted little more than to share her time with family and friends, and to live out her later days at home.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Adath Israel Congregation or Cedar Village Care and Community.
