Philip Compton Obituary

COMPTON

At 4 years of age, Phil Compton knew he wanted to be a pilot. Phil began flying lessons at 14, soloed at 16, and got his pilots license at 17, the youngest age legally possible. He went on to achieve every pilots license at the earliest legal age. He loved all things aviation. In addition to being a pilot for P&G for 31 years, he soared in gliders, flew hot air balloons, and when he was physically limited, he built and flew model airplanes. After retiring he wanted two things - to see the USA from the ground and to use the "other" side of his brain. So, he bought an RV and with his wife, traveled the U.S. He became an accomplished artist with a studio/ gallery at Pendleton Art Center and a polished musician playing the Native American style flute. Phil volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity and he was an avid long distance cyclist. Philip Compton, age 68, passed away on April 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie E. Compton, his sons Christopher (Blythe) and Seth (Cassie), dear brothers Ted and Carl and sister Janet (Tom), and many dear friends. Memorial service will be Saturday, May 20th at 11AM at the Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. Cincinnati., OH 45223. Luncheon will follow at Spring Grove in the Reception Center. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Habitat for Humanity for Greater Cincinnati, 4910 Para Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45237.
