Phyllis BERG-HARTOCH Obituary

BERG-HARTOCH Dr. Phyllis Berg-Hartoch (nee Fanny Merel), 91, passed away March 23, 2006, in Konstanz, Germany. Phyllis was born in Bamberg, Germany, January 6, 1915, the daughter of Schachne and Sara Berta (Ruhmstein) Merel. She is survived by her two sons: Dr. Norman (Sandra) Berg (clinical psychologist) of Cincinnati and Dr. Daniel Berg (physician) of Bloomington, Indiana; her three grandchildren: Kimberley Martin of Bloomington, Indiana; Aaron (Courtney) Berg of Rocky River, Ohio; and Rachel Berg of San Diego; and her three great-granddaughters: Arden, Blaire and Cecelia Berg. She is also survived by her brother Avroham Merl and nieces, Bertha (Jacob) Schonberg and Alison (David) Abraham all of London, England, and nephew, Rabbi Eli (Yaffa) Merl of Jerusalem, Israel. She was predeceased by her husbands Samuel Berg (pharmacist) of Cincinnati and Rudolph Hartoch of Barcelona, Spain, and her daughter-in-law Nancy Berg of Bloomington, Indiana. Phyllis was the niece of Rabbi Bernard and Esther (Merel) Kalchman of Cincinnati. She was buried in the Jewish Cemetery in Konstanz, Germany, on Monday, March 27, 2006; Rabbi Usi Teitelbaum officiated. Donations to Yad Vashem, P.O. Box 3477, Jerusalem 91034 Israel or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
