Richard FEDERLE Obituary
FEDERLE Richard L., 72, of Wilmington, passed away Friday morning (October 24, 2008) at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosemary Kay Leisure Federle. Mr. Federle was born December 23, 1935, in Cincinnati, son of the late Franklin and Florence Federle. He was a retired golf professional. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, son Richard Jr. (Traci) Federle and grandson, Richie of Wilmington; and daughter Robyn Foreman and granddaughters Teagan and Brinlee, of West Chester, OH; three brothers Franklin Jr. (Lois) Federle of West Chester, Leroy (Susan) Federle of Cincinnati, and William Federle of Cincinnati as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gordon (Ruth) Federle of Savannah, GA, and sister Elaine Lang. "Rick" as he was known by his many friends, began his golfing career at the age of nine as a caddy at Hyde Park Country Club in Cincinnati. His love for the game remained a large part of his life and the passion he had for it, touched many lives both young and old throughout the years. Following a tour of duty with the U.S. Army, he joined the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and began working as an assistant golf pro at Terrace Park Country Club in Cincinnati. In 1965 Rich was offered the head pro position at Snow Hill Country Club where he remained for 15 years. In 1980 he and several friends purchased Buckeye Hills in Greenfield. He assumed the pro's job and remained there until his retirement in 2005. He was a lifetime member of the PGA, and over the years taught golf to and mentored countless young people, many of whom continued to be a part of his life. "Rich" will be remembered for his offbeat sense of humor and quiet demeanor. He was a compassionate man with a strong sense of integrity for doing what was right. He was deeply loved by his ramily and friends and will be greatly missed by them. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at Laurel Cemetery in Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society or charity of one's choice.
