Richard Rumpke Obituary
Colerain Township - Beloved son of the late Albert "Al" Rumpke and Joan (Listermann) Rumpke. Dear brother of Terri (Bob) Richardson, Joan (Ron) Fehr, Joe (Tracy) Rumpke, Steve (Margie) Rumpke, Tina (Dave) Minges and the late Albert (liv Pat) Rumpke and Karen Hilton. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Tuesday, January 28, 2020 age 71 years. Richard was wounded in Dakto, Vietnam in an attack which killed 8 of his fellow soldiers. As a result of his injuries, Richard was confined to a wheelchair for the remainder of his life.Visitation Saturday, Feb 1, from 9 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. John The-Baptist Church, 5361 Dry Ridge Rd. (Dry Ridge). Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in St. Bernard. Memorials may be directed to Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758589 Topeka, KS 66675.

Oh, my goodness. I just learned of Rich's passing this evening and it has left me feeling numb and very sad.
I did not get Rich's birthday card out in the mail on time and I didn't want it to be late, since his birthday is tomorrow.
So, I drove over to his house and placed the card in his mailbox. I didn't want to call or knock on the door because it was late.
As I sat in my car, something just didn't seem right. I drove down the road and keyed in Rich's address into my phone. What I saw next had me very concerned.
The web page stated the house sold in September. Then I looked to see if there was an obituary; when I saw the obituary come across my screen, I was deeply saddened.
Rich and I always connected at Christmas time and on his birthday. It was a very special time of year for us.
He was a very generous person and had a heart of gold. I will miss you my good friend. You will always have a special place in my heart and I will always cherish our memories.
My deepest sympathy to the Rumpke Family for the loss of Rich.
