I just learned of the death of Dr. Helm. He was a long time friend of the McGuire family.
He worked with my father, Johnson McGuire, at the Cincinnati General Hospital and the Holmes Hospital when I was young. His conscientiousness was extraordinary--I remember my father saying that he kept his beeper in his pocket even when he went sledding with his adored son!
His gentleness and kindness to all our family lasted nearly sixty years. Besides his expertise as a cardiologist, he was a splendid photographer. He encouraged my father, my sisters and myself in this wonderful hobby.
How I shall miss him!
