Roland MacGregor Obituary

Roland A. MacGregor

Age 96, passed away December 26 in Delhi. He was born in 1924 to William and Susan MacGregor. He served in WWII and the Korean War. A graduate of UC, he worked for Shillito's for many years, but his favorite job was his post-retirement work at the Cincinnati Art Museum. He was an avid reader, a fervent admirer of Lincoln and Churchill, a faithful Episcopalian and devoted husband and father. A knowledgeable man, he knew much about many things and something about everything. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and wore it well. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 70 years, Jeanette Ciuccio MacGregor, his sons Andrew and Robert, daughter Susan and son-in-law James Huser, grandchildren Anne, Emma, Molly, Nick, William, Kelsey and Alexander. His son, Nicholas, preceded him in death. A memorial will be held later. Memorials may be sent to Saint James Episcopal Church, 3207 Montana Avenue, in Cincinnati 45211. www.vittstermeranderson.com

Mac and I worked together at Shillito's in 1977 in the major appliance buying office. He was a great guy and reminded me of my father. When I decided to leave the company to go work for one of our suppliers, he sat down with me to make sure I had thought this out completely. He then said if this was 20 years earlier, he would have tried to talk me out of it, but in the retail climate at the time he thought I was making the right choice. Later that week, my dad did the same thing and I always thought of Mac as a mentor. God speed Mac.

Sandy was a unique man. We enjoyed talking to him at family occasions. His sense of humor was enjoyable. You lived a long good life until God called you.

Although I didn't know his last name, I am pretty sure this is the Roland from Bayley. If this is the correct Roland, I would like you to know how much he helped his wife who resides close to my mother. I would see him helping Jeanette get around and also helping her with what she needed to be doing. Roland was a very nice man who I enjoyed talking with when I visited. I am very sorry to learn that he has passed away. He will be missed. I hope your mother is doing well. May God bless your family during this difficult time.
