Ruth Eugenia (Gillham) beloved wife of the late James Oscar Smith for 70 years, loving mother of Anita (Gerald) Sayers of Columbus, OH, Linda (Steve) Turner of Golden, CO and Cynthia (Douglas) Kelsey of Mason, OH. Grandmother of 5, Great-grandmother of two, sister of Irene Evelyn (Gillham), (Jarrett) Beres of Pueblo CO, the late William Ernest Gillham, the late Carrie Mildred (Gillham) Heck, the late Lela Mae (Gillham) Skul. Retired from Princeton City School District, Technical Service Center, Glendale, OH. Passed away Dec. 13, 2013 at the age of 93 yrs. Ruth was born in1920 in Crowley, Colorado to William Henry Gillham and Ida Mae Todd and grew up in the Crowley and Pueblo, Colorado area. Paternal grandparents were John Buckner Gillham and Hester Ann Harman (Morton) of Iola, Kansas. Maternal grandparents were William Todd (of Scotland) and Susan Roberts Schamp of Iola, Kansas. Ruth became a civil service employee as a young lady and traveled by train from Colorado to begin working in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. where she met her husband, James. After James completed his active duty military service, Ruth and Jim moved the family to the Cincinnati, OH area where they raised their daughters in Blue Ash, OH and have resided in Mason, OH since retirement. She was an accomplished seamstress, calligrapher and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and other needle arts. Ruth was a long-time member of the Sharonville Presbyterian Church and the Sharonville Federated Women's Club. Visitation Thurs. Dec. 19, 2013 from 11:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon both at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home 10211 Plainfield Road. Burial in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Cincinnati, OH. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Crossroads Hospice (www.crossroadshospice.com). Arrangements entrusted to Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home. www.mrfh.com

Cindy and Doug. I know how close you both were to Cindy's mom. It has been a long and beautiful live for her. Now God realized the road she was traveling was getting more difficult so he found a spot for her in heaven. She is there watching over all of her extended family. Cindy, my prayers are with you as you go through this mourning phase. This too will pass and you will have all those wonderful memories to look back on and to share with your family. Take care of yourself.

So sorry for your loss... Even though your Mom has stepped through the gates of heaven and is at peace with God, probably laughing with my Dad right now... I recognize how difficult letting go can be.
Thankfully the best of Ruth is in you. Everyone who knows you Cindy recognizes what a wonderful person you are.
