I am just learning of Steve’s passing. We attended Mizzou together. What sad news. Steve was always a kind and caring soul. The last time we spoke was many years ago and he was so very happy and blessed.
Sending love and light to his family with hope you find comfort.

I just heard this tragic news. Steve gave me my first job as a lawyer and I worked for him again a few years ago on random projects. He was the nicest, most down to earth person. He was passionate about the law and representing his clients. He was always so nice to talk with, and really cared about people. He will be missed.

We knew Steve, having met him through Joe Deters many years ago. Steve was always there when Don was running for office and was helpful in anyway he could be. Both of us consider Steve to be one of the nicest, friendliest, helpful, outgoing individuals we have ever met. His loss at such a young age is both unbelievable and devastating. Steve’s family are in our thoughts and prayers. He will forever be in our hearts.

I am so sorry for your loss. Over the last 30 years I would see Steve at Chase Law School, Triathlon events and at the Cincinnati Sports Club It was always a special moment when we spent a few minutes talking about family and our training. Every time I saw him he was in an upbeat mood. He was a joy to be around. I am so very sorry

I was privileged to know Steve since our days together at Chase College of Law. His death is a tragic loss to his wife, sons, friends and family, but also to the legal community and the important ideal of Due Process. Your many contributions remain your living legacy. God Bless,

Steve and I were classmates but became true colleagues after law school. He was always my point person to go to with criminal DUI cases. He would send me emails weekly with articles he wrote on the topic. He would always greet me with a friendly hello when we passed each other in the courthouse or in a courtroom. He was a great attorney and friend.

I haven't seen Steve since he graduated from high school. He and my daughter went to school together at Adams school. Here is a true and cute story that his kids might enjoy. When Steve was in the 6th grade, Adams School took trips to Chicago. My husband (also Steve's Boy Scout leader) was the chaperone for a group of 4 boys, including Steve. During the night John fell asleep, but the boys were still up. They drew smiley faces on each of John's toes with permanent marker! He and his 3 friends were always such pranksters', not sure what the consequence for them was, but we had to scrub John's toes with Comet cleanser! John told that story for years. RIP Steve, maybe you will meet up with John in Heaven.

Steve, getting to know you over this last year was a tremendous privilege. From the sudden bursts of laughter to your genuine care for others, the world was brighter and better with you in it. I'll miss you my friend.

I met Steve when he was a young law clerk for a judge in Cincinnati. We clicked right from the start as if we were some long lost friends from another probable place and time. Steve appeared in my life a few times after that and offered me his helping hand when I needed one to pull me out of some unpleasant situations, not of my own making. I lost track of him after I moved out of Cincinnati until decades later when I came across his book Practice Law Like An Ironman on Amazon. I would never forget what the young Steve did for me without wanting anything in return and know in my heart that he is well-loved wherever he is.

Steve & I were friends and great competitors growing up. Steve always had a smile on his face and friendly joke. It was great to him & his wife at our last HS reunion. I'm really at loss for words.
Rest in peace and God bless the family

I met Steve when I hired him shortly after he opened his private practice. After years of not crossing paths, I ran into him a few times and he always remembered who I was and my family. For all the people he has interacted with between those conversations, that speaks volumes to me about the man Steve was and why I will always keep his memory in high regard. My condolences to his entire family and colleagues. I will miss following him on the radio and online. THANK YOU one more time for standing up for me!
