Although it has been many years since I last saw Werner, he was my favorite among my in-laws' friends. Werner always had a ready smile and a great appreciation for good food and good beer, but he also had true depth of character. When my son was required to interview a U.S. immigrant for a school project, Werner not only graciously agreed to share his time, but also gave my son an invaluable history lesson about Germany and humanity. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary Ellen, Eric and the rest of Werner's family in their loss of a special man.
