William RYAN Obituary

RYAN

William R. Age 77 of Indian Hill, died on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at University Hospital, Cincinnati. Born on August 5, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Edward J. and Mary Reardon Ryan. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and his loving children: Laura Ryan of Hyde Park; Bill (Janet) Ryan of Winnetka, IL; Patty (Wilhelm) Genn of Lebanon, OH; Maria (David) Myron of Pittsburgh PA; Marty (Melissa) Ryan of Tampa, FL; Peggy (Mike) Akey of Winnetka, IL., and the late Michael P. Ryan. He also leaves behind 19 cherished grandchildren: Bill (Sideeka), Brenna, Maria and John Ryan; Wilhelm (Brooke), Theo, and Ryan Genn; Carey, John and Ross Barnaclo; Nicholas, Roman, and Alexander Myron; Michael and Molly Ryan; Marianna, Margaret, Aiden, and Lauren Akey. Bill is also brother of James Ryan of Maryland, the late Edward M. Ryan of Pittsburgh, and the late Adele Moritz of Pittsburgh, as well as uncle to many nieces and nephews. His faith, devotion, and loyalty to family were instilled at an early age, and continues with those he leaves behind. Beginning as a laborer for his brother Ed (Ryan Homes), he became a successful member of the Ryan family's homebuilding legacy; a tradition that began with a single house his father built for his mother in Castle Shannon, PA. The Ryan family has produced many homebuilding companies across the country. The family also shares a love of horses; an interest that Bill successfully pursued through thoroughbred horse racing. He was also a long time member of Kenwood Country Club, and had a passion for golf. Funeral arrangements by Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45236. Friends and family welcome on Sunday, September 15th from 6 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude Parish, Maderia. OH, on Monday, September 16th at 9:30 AM. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1080 Nimitzview Drive, Suite 208, Cincinnati, OH 45230. Sadden to hear of Bills passing. He was a good and gentle man, but stern when need be. I don't remember him saying it, but he lived the creed, "do the right thing"
