Nancy Ranck Obituary

Gratiot Nancy Sue Frampton Ranck, 84, of Gratiot, Ohio, formerly of Circleville, passed away at her home on October 28, 2025, in the bosom of the Lord to the house He has prepared for her. Nancy was born February 5, 1941, in Newark, Ohio to Robert and Pearl (Houdeshell) Frampton. She spent her childhood in the Gratiot area and was a 1958 graduate of Hopewell High School. She was homecoming queen and played drums as a member of the band. She married her husband, Pearson J. (P.J.) Ranck, on August 24, 1958, at Gratiot United Methodist Church. She was a member of The Mt. Olive Methodist Church, where she also taught children's Sunday school. The annual church ice cream social was a highlight of every year for her as she was able to visit with and laugh with so many who came to support the church. She was part of the preparation for and sales efforts for the success of the chocolate Easter egg fundraiser for the church.

She lived in Circleville from 1963-1990 where she and P.J. raised their two sons. During that time, she was employed at Big Bear and Kroger. She made many friends and was active in the community. She was one of the loudest and most supportive fans at little league and high school baseball games and other sporting events. She attended Community United Methodist Church.

Nancy was always a hard worker and worked many hours with P.J. setting up their home of 35 years in rural Gratiot. Upon retirement, Nancy and P.J. enjoyed extensive traveling around the country in their RV's and to many other countries around the world including Kenya, Morocco, Iceland, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, and Turkey.

Nancy was the first volunteer reader at Hopewell Elementary School and did so for seven years. She was featured in a newspaper article highlighting her and the children's excitement with this activity. She enjoyed gardening, often providing fresh flowers for the worship service at church. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and loving on her grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Frampton of Zanesville. She is survived by her husband P.J., Gratiot; two sons: Alan (Barbara) Ranck, Hopewell and Mark (Linda) Ranck, Columbus; sister Mary Lou (Richard) Walters, Zanesville; six grandchildren: Christina (Ryan) Mobley, New Vienna, Ohio; Kyle (Jessica) Ranck, Summerville, SC; Chelsea (Kelby) Dolan, Indianapolis, IN; Adrienne (Kyle) Newman, Dalton City, IL; Matthew Clifton, Newark; Brittany (Madee) Stones, Zanesville; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the care provided to Nancy in her final days by the loving, caring staff of Genesis Hospice and FirstLight Home Care.
