Ralph Smith Obituary

Laurelville Ralph "Bud" Smith, 82, of Laurelville passed away on August 15, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1942 in Clendenin, WV to Ralph "Pop" Jr. and Georgie (Shamblin) Smith. He had worked for Brodie, Lakeshore and Perham Pipelines, Team Fishel Co. and Miller Pipeline where he retired from on December 21, 2007. He enjoyed camping at Bobo Campground, Nascar, Blue Grass music and was an avid watcher of Wester Channel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother Zella Smith; his wife Carol (Swiney) Smith; sister Joyce Smith, step brother Danny Meadows and a brother-in-law Joe Sparr. Ralph is survived by his son Butch (Linda) Smith and daughter Joyce (Kenny) Skaggs both of Laurelville; grandchildren Jeremy (Chantel) Skaggs, Cody (Jess) Smith, Kassie (Trevor) Ross; great grandchildren Bristol and Scarlett Skaggs, Nicholas and Cody Davis, Carter Smith, Zane and Fallon Ross and Reilly Skaggs; siblings Bill (Joy) Smith, Darla Smith, step sister Janet Meadows all of West Virginia; brother-in-law Tom (Sharon) Swiney of North Carolina, sisters-in-law Sue Hays of Michigan and Patty Sparr of Georgia and by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at noon at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10-12.
