Bert Nance Obituary
Swannanoa - Bert Bernard Nance, Sr., 77, of Swannanoa, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was born on October 12, 1940, in Volusia County, FL, to the late Charlie and Virginia Belle McClendon Nance. Bert was a United States Army veteran, worked as a paint mixer for a paint manufacturing company, and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Belinda Carter; and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Nora Dixon Nance; Theresa Lewis Nance, mother of his son, Bert B. Nance, Jr., (Lauren) of New Jersey, and daughter, Deirdre Nance of Nutley, NJ; brothers, Ted Nance of Las Vegas, NV, and Alvin Nance of Winter Springs, FL; sisters, Melva Nance and Dorothy Nance of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, January 29, 2018, in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Theresa Nance. A burial will be held at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Nance family.
