Cassandra Smith Obituary
Asheville - Cassandra Smith, 49, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016.
She was a native of Asheville and a daughter of the late Arthur Little, Jr. and Willie Catherine Smith. She was former employee of Eliada Home.
Cassandra was a take charge person when it came to her grandchildren. They were her passion and drive for life. Sandy's reasoning for making changes the last year of her life contributed solely to being there for her grandchildren. She wanted them to know that she loved them with all of her heart and that they could always count on "Nana" as they called her.
Cassandra's (Sandy) last year of life was filled with happiness, laughter, dancing, family gatherings and delicious food. She loved encouraging and taking care of people in her community. It was not unusual to see her delivering plates and caring for other children. Sandy, our feisty loved, one will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special aunt, Vivian McKinney.
Surviving family include a daughter, Zandra Smith (Garland); son, Tremayne Carter; sister, Yvette Jives (Lonnie); brothers, Gregory Smith (Doreen),
Kevin Smith (Vivian), Mychal Smith (Pamela) and Darrin Smith: grandchildren, Zavian, Xavier, Ezra and Karai Casey, Zynasha Singleton, Meyani and Sage Carter; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be 3 pm. Tuesday in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service.

I wish to send love, warmth, and light to Cassandra's family and friends. I will without a doubt miss this beautiful, strong spirit. I had the pleasure of knowing Cassandra for the last 5 years of her life. And yes, yes, yes, her last year, was amazing. I saw a caterpillar change into a beautiful butterfly. Cassandra was indeed a feisty one, she had true passion in her heart. I will miss her genuineness, her laugh, that smile, that intellect, and all of our talks. She was never afraid to be brutally honest with me or herself, or anyone else. She had a heart. I am lucky to know a strong spirited woman. She will live on in my heart and many others, she had a loving domineering cute way about her. Yes, cute. I am very fond of her and grateful that I got to see a miracle this last year, she will forever be an inspiration to me. Her faith was unquestionable. She was strong, intelligent, funny, determined, and a lovely person to know. She was one of my best friends. I love you Sandra!
