Clayton King Obituary
Hendersonville - Clayton David King, 92, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in his residence.
Born in Yancey County, he was the husband of the late Kathleen (Ray) King, and the son of the late Marion and Cordelia (Robinson) King. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Rodden; three brothers: William, Eugene, and Roy King; and two sisters: Pauline Harris and Bertha McGraw.
Clayton is survived by a daughter, Linda Seay (Jeff) of Hendersonville; three grandsons: Wayne Rodden (Alicia) and Matthew (Sommer) and Jeremy (Bethann) Buchanan; seven great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview with Pastor Tony Birkhead officiating. Clayton will lie in state at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian from 8 AM until 5 PM Friday, July 16 and from 8 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday, July 17 for those who would like to view and sign the register book. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.

I was friends with Clayton for 30 years and worked with him at the Citizen Times for 17 all together. We were very close and I have so many great memories of him as we spent alot of time together in and out of work. He was the most thoughtful, hard-working and sweetest man and I will treasure out friendship forever! He meant the world to me and my family and I am so sorry for the families loss. I will always have such wonderful memories of Clayton and all the time we spent together.I will miss Clayton and I will always keep him close to my heart! RIP my dear friend and Heaven has gained another beautiful angel. All my love.
