Clyde Buckner Obituary
Candler - Clyde Allen Buckner, 83, of Candler, died on June 2, 2016, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Buckner was born on November 11, 1932, in Buncombe Co. to the late Cora Buckner Roberts Stevens, and he was married to Joan Norris Buckner, who died on July 12, 2014.
He served in the Army in the Military Police. During his tour, he witnessed Hydrogen bomb tests in New Mexico. While working at Stoney Knob Grocery in Weaverville and Candler Supermarket, he became known as the "Sausage Man."
He is survived by daughters, Karen Bowen (husband Jeff) and Kathleen Miller; sons, Jeff Buckner (wife Wanda) and Mike Buckner (wife Kathy); grandchildren, John, Ryan, Laura, Matthew, MacKenzie, Dalton and Emily; and great-grandson Austin.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Buchanan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunrise Baptist Church, 419 Deaverview Rd., Asheville, NC 28816, or to the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Buckner family . Years ago I was a coworker with Clyde at both stony knob and Candler supermarkets . He was a good friend and always true to his word . God bless you during this difficult time .

My father, Jack Williamson, worked for many years with Clyde at their various grocery stores. When I visited those stores, I frequently visited with Clyde. He was always very interested in my life and what I was doing at that moment in time. Clyde was a very kind, humble man. I have good memories of him. He will be missed. I am certain that my father is mourning for him today.
