Dorothy Phelps Obituary
Asheville - Dorothy "Kati" Phelps, 70 of Asheville North Carolina. Lost her battle with cancer at CarePartners Solace Center on Saturday, December 9, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Kati was born on 2.18.1947 in Pensacola Fl to Martha Pate Pittman and Cecil Pittman. Tom Phelps and Kati were married on March 20th 1981. Kati worked for AB emblem for 42 years before retiring.
She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being the queen of the Red Hats, her book club, anything trains and being Mrs. Santa Claus.
Kati was preceded to the Gates of Heaven by her mother, father, brother Wayne, sister Cecilia. She leaves behind her loving husband Tom, sister Linda, brother Jeff, two daughters, four Grand children, six great-grandchildren and one on the way.
A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Michael Kurtz officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and again following.

Tom, Pennie and Family,
Words cannot express our sorrow in losing Kati. She was a special lady that our friendship has lasted through the years. I will never forget, she was the first person I met when the NRHS was having an organization meeting at town hall. Ever since then, she and Tom were always there to make sure everyone was happy, informed, and she always asked about family. We loved her and she will be missed. Prayers and comfort for each of you.

We have lost our friend, Kati, but love lives on. We carry it in our blood and our bones. When you lose someone, you've only lost the giver, not the gift.

Katie was the one that would seek you out at in the water aerobics class at Gold
Gym. She was the "class secretary" who had gathered emails from us and sent information on members who were sick or needed prayers. She wasn't able to be there for some time now, but we have kept her in or prayers and missed seeing both Kati and Tom. She was always smiling and positive.
