Ethel Metcalf Obituary
Asheville - Ethel Metcalf went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2021.
She had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Over the years, she loved her church and was very involved. She assisted with numerous church events and was a dedicated member of the church choir, Sunday school class and FAITH evangelism. She was a wonderful cook and always enjoyed having friends and family over on special occasions to eat.
Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Eugene Metcalf.
Surviving are her children: Kathy Metcalf Rathbone (Roy), Charles Metcalf (Miriam), Gene Metcalf (Tracy), Rodney Metcalf (Kathy). Her grandchildren: Jeannie Plemmons Chambers, Mitzi Metcalf Reece (Matt), Scott Metcalf (Crystal), Lauren Metcalf Vocci (Blair). Five great-grandchildren: Timothy Chambers, Stella Metcalf, Lyla Mae Metcalf, Charlie Metcalf and Cora Jane Metcalf. Also, a brother, Willie Moore (Mary).
After a long and independent life, a fall left her in bad health the last four months of her life. The family is grateful to Aston Park Health Center, Four Seasons Hospice and Anders Rice Funeral Home for their concern and care.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Sunday July 18, 2021 at West Asheville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45. The memorial service will take place at 3:00, with Pastor Stan Welch officiating.
Memorials may be given to West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806, or Eblen Charities, 50 Westgate Parkway, Asheville, NC 28806.

We loved Ethel so much. She was just a precious lady. Always dressed to a pin. Sweet and made me laugh. Just one of the kindest souls I've ever known. And loved my Momma. So grateful to have had her in our lives. Our prayers are with you all as I know how you must miss her. We all do.
